Vinyl Decal Directions

Follow the steps below to apply your vinyl decal for the best results. Proper surface preparation and careful application will help your decal stick cleanly and last for years.

What I Do (Steps 1-4)

  1. Design Time! I create your design with your text, font, size, and color.
  2. Cut the vinyl on my cutting machine.
  3. Weed the design by removing all the extra vinyl around it.
  4. Add transfer tape over the top so your decal is ready to apply, then it's packed up and shipped to you.

What You Do (Steps 5-9)

  1. Clean your cup. Wipe the surface with rubbing alcohol so it's free of dust, oils, and residue, then let it dry completely.
  2. Position the decal. Peel the backing paper away slowly at a low angle so the decal stays on the transfer tape. If any part lifts with the backing, lay it back down, rub firmly, and try again. Then place the decal where you want it.
  3. Burnish it on. Rub firmly over the decal from the center outward with a squeegee, credit card, or your fingernail to remove air bubbles.
  4. Peel the transfer tape away slowly at a low angle, leaving only the vinyl on your cup. Smooth any edges or bubbles with your fingernail.
  5. Enjoy your custom cup!

Tips

  • Vinyl decals stick best to smooth, non-porous surfaces like glass, metal, plastic, and painted wood. Avoid textured, uneven, or porous surfaces.
  • Avoid applying decals in extreme heat, cold, or high humidity.
  • Wait 24-48 hours before exposing the decal to water or cleaning products.
  • Hand wash items with decals instead of using a dishwasher.
  • Avoid long exposure to direct sunlight to keep colors bright over time.
