Vinyl Decal Directions
Follow the steps below to apply your vinyl decal for the best results. Proper surface preparation and careful application will help your decal adhere cleanly and last for years.
Before You Begin
- Make sure your surface is clean, dry, and free of dust, oils, or residue.
- Wipe down the surface with rubbing alcohol and allow it to dry completely before applying.
- Avoid applying decals in extreme heat, cold, or high humidity.
- Vinyl decals adhere best to smooth, non-porous surfaces such as glass, metal, plastic, and painted wood.
Application Steps
- Prepare your decal by laying it flat and smoothing out any curls in the transfer tape.
- Peel the backing paper away slowly at a low angle, ensuring the decal stays adhered to the transfer tape. If any part lifts with the backing, lay it back down and rub firmly before trying again.
- Position the decal on your surface before pressing down to confirm placement.
- Apply the decal by pressing firmly from the center outward using a squeegee, credit card, or your fingernail to remove air bubbles.
- Peel the transfer tape away slowly at a low angle, leaving only the vinyl decal on the surface.
- Smooth any remaining edges or bubbles with your fingernail or a flat card.
Care Tips
- Allow 24-48 hours before exposing the decal to water or cleaning products.
- Hand-wash surfaces with decals rather than using a dishwasher.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to maintain color vibrancy over time.
- Do not apply over textured, uneven, or porous surfaces for best adhesion.
